The Plantronics GameCom BF3 tourney begins this week, boasting a first place prize of $2,000.
Notable teams such as rivaL Gaming, 20ID, Area 51, Fragment!, Icons of Vanity, and B-Team Gaming are already working their way through the first phase of the tournament, the five round single-elimination bracket.
The four final teams of the single elimination bracket will move onto a double elimination bracket to duke it out for top position. Besides the first place prize of $2,000, second place will be awarded a cool $1,000, third $500, and the fourth place team will be awarded four GameCom 777 ® 7.1 surround sound headsets.
Rival Gaming is coming off a second place victory from last month’s Newegg WanFest. Epsilon Gaming, the champions of Wanfest are absent due to only teams from the US being allowed, leaving first place up for grabs. While Rival may then seem the favorite there are still numerous competitors that are looking stronger than ever. One group of players, Team Fragment!, has gathered a select few that may be able to topple Rival and take home the $2,000. We’ll just have to watch the action this week and see which team makes it to the top.
Due to new anti-cheat rules, each player must record their games using third-party programs. Hopefully this will lead not only to more secure recording measures but more uploaded gameplay footage for viewers who want to follow the action. B-Team gaming will be streaming their matches at www.twitch.tv/bteamgaming, so tune in to watch the action.
